It often feels like every week or two another celebrity couple splits up. In many cases, the celebrity marriages were short term flings, often lasting less than a year and sometimes even less than a month. That is why it may come as a shock to many to hear of the recently announcement that the reality television couple and business partners Tarek and Christina El Moussa from the popular HGTV show “Flip or Flop” have filed for divorce. The couple had been married nearly eight years and have two children together, a six year old daughter and one year old son.
Although the couple calls it an “unfortunate misunderstanding”, there are suspicions that an altercation last May involving a gun at the couple’s California home may have played a role in the tension between the two. No charges were filed in the incident.
The couple released a statement concerning their divorce, saying that they are still committed to their kids and in being the best parents they can be. They assured the public that they will work civilly and cooperatively together, and still plan to work together professionally. The two are still under contract for their television show, but plan to end the show when they are done filming.
Although each’s income and net worth has not been made public, one could suspect that each has a significant net-worth. One can hope that they had a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement together to make the divorce process either. Regardless, it would certainly be in each’s best interest to protect themselves, their wishes and their assets by hiring a strong family law firm to represent them in divorce court.
